SLO Safe Ride will be offering round-trip shuttle passes from San Luis Obispo with the goal of providing concert-goers reliable and affordable transportation to the California Mid State Fair. With a flat rate of $32.50 per round-trip ticket, customers will not have to worry about designating a driver, parking, or using rideshare services with amateur drivers and surge charges during the busy fair time. For each shuttle listed on the SLO Safe Ride Events Page, the bus up leaves from Buffalo Wild Wings at 5:30pm and picks up from the fair at Pioneer Museum at 11:30pm. Patrons have found this format to be especially helpful as there are not official bus lines provided by the Mid-State Fair from anywhere in San Luis Obispo.
If you are thinking about getting a group together and riding the shuttle, here are some suggestions we have:
- Get there early and enjoy some food/drinks: While the fair has all the great confections and libations that we love (I mean let’s face it, half the goal of going to the fair is to eat the food), you don’t want to be grumpy and hungry on the bus ride up. It’s just long enough we recommend you fire things up a little early, and don’t forget to use the restroom, too!
- Don’t overindulge: While the shuttle is there so people can have drinks and not worry about driving, you don’t want to be that person who has to be helped onto the bus (or worse, kicked off for being too intoxicated). SLO Safe Ride is known for helping people enjoy their lives responsibly, but it’s certainly a two way street!
- Be on time for the return trip: The scheduling is a bit tight for the return pick up (approximately 30 minutes after the concerts end), and sometimes fair crowds are hard to navigate. If you plan on getting onto the return portion of the shuttle, make sure you know where the pickup is and be ready to get your group over in a timely fashion.
- Have fun: It’s the California Mid-State Fair; be ready to see amazing acts, eat a smorgasbord of delicious food, and enjoy the good times with family, friends, and your best self.
