Craving that perfect wine and food pairing in Paso Robles? We’ve got you covered! After tasting our way through the rolling hills of wine country, we’ve found some of the best wineries with onsite bites. Read below for details you’ll be able to sink your teeth into, and the wine that pairs best!
Side note: with all this fantastic food, you’re going to want to nap—a lot.
For maximum in-between napping ability, as you travel to and from Paso Robles wineries, we recommend going in a Mercedes Sprinter LandJet, complete with La-Z-Boy leather recliners. Now, let’s splash into these pairings!
1.Bianchi Winery
Our first stop is the Bianchi Winery. This winery is relatively intimate and cozy compared to other Paso Robles wineries. It only has 40 acres of vineyard, but that’s all this winery needs to flourish in crafting small, limited production wines. With every sip, you know that you’re drinking something genuinely spectacular.
Every Saturday and Sunday, this boutique winery partners with Paso Catering to offer an assortment of delicious food from sandwiches to tiramisu.
We recommend enjoying a glass of their Bianchi 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, which has a crisp cherry and mild strawberry flavor, with their Roast Turkey Ciabatta Sandwich. This, drool-worthy, sandwich includes gouda & fresh apple sandwich w/spring mix & apple Dijon aioli. Yum!
Tastings Fee: $15

2.Cass Winery
When you arrive at Cass Winery, one of the first things you may notice is giant oak trees amid the Rhone vines! These trees make summer picnicking in Paso Robles a breeze.
We suggest making yourself comfortable under one and then grabbing a bottle of Rockin’ Ted from their tasting room, it’s a winner of the double gold at the California State Fair. Savor notes of savory spice, baken boysenberry and caramelized currant, in every sip. This pairs just right with their Pulled Pork Sandwich, which includes slowly braised and rubbed with Spiceologist Rasberry Chipotle rub pork, tossed in a sweet and tanging local berry BBQ sauce topped with creamy coleslaw served on a brioche bun. We recommend placing a reservation for the café, as spots here fill up quickly!
Tasting Fee: $15-$20

3.Niner Wine Estates
Locally famous in Paso Robles for Heart Hill, an oak grove on their hill in the shape of a heart, they’re a must stop for a food and wine pairing. All of their wines are 100% estate grown. We recommend enjoying a glass of 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, which carries cooling fruity aromatics of kiwi, honeydew melon and green apple. Then you can pair it with their incredible Marinated Shellfish Salad, a perfectly refreshing combination for a warm summer day on the Central Coast.
Tasting Fee: $20 & $50 For Reserve Flight

4.Opolo Vineyards
While we may have started at Bianchi Winery, a vineyard with only 40 acres, we’re now at Opolo Vineyards with nearly 300 acres of vines on the east and west side of Paso Robles. This extensive acreage allows for a wide range in climate, soil, and growing potential—allowing a comprehensive range of varietals to flourish.
Their patio is where the magic between the food and the wine pairings happen. Order a Pizza Bueno, a pizza topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and grilled chicken over Bren’s seasoned white sauce with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Once that comes out of the oven, go ahead and grab a glass of 2014 Fusion, a full-bodied wine with a beautiful finish!
Tasting Fee: $20

5. Parrish Family Vineyard
Last, but certainly not least on our wine and food pairings is the Parrish Family Vineyard. They first planted their grapes in Atascadero, pre-Prohibition and today manage 150 acres on three estate vineyards throughout Paso Robles. The winery’s tasting room sits on a hill overlooking the estate and ensures every sunset here is breathtaking.
We recommend visiting them for Sunday brunch and enjoying their Chicken & Waffles, made up of lavender-infused waffles with buttermilk fried chicken, whipped orange butter and honey drizzle. We guarantee that you won’t find anything quite like this on the Central Coast. Grab a glass of their 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, which is light and crisp for a perfect brunch pairing. It’s a delight for a Sunday morning.
Tasting Fee: $25
